An unusually broad and generous Gainsborough style chair, hand crafted in beech with soft wood arms and set on plain square mahogany legs, braced by stretchers. Traditionally upholstered with individual springs and hand stitched horsehair to create the comfortable yet remarkably fine lines of the outward swept scrolling arms, back and seat.
The example pictured is covered in Ripstop ‘Desert Corps’, ‘Tank’ and ‘Trench’, from Howe at 36 Bourne street, hand stitched together using a heavy natural linen thread and upholstered in a deconstructed style to reveal the beautiful framework and hand dyed grain sack lining.
